USEFUL NOTES FOR YOU



beef-        meats that comes from a cow
bread-     a type food made from flour,water and with yeast mixed together and baked.
chapati-   a type of flat roung bread cheese a type of food made from milk and can be either soft or hard. curry-      a dish of meat/vegetables cooked with hot spices and often served with rice.  
French fry-   a long thin piece of potato fried in oil.
kebab-    small pieces of meat and vegetables cooked on a wooden or metel sticks.
lasagne-   an Italian dish made from layers of lasagne, finely chopped meat and/ or hot vegetables and white  
                sauce.
muffin-     a round flat bread roll, usually toasted and eaten hot with butter.  
mutton-    meat from a fully grown sheep. 
naan-        a type of flat bread. noodles a long thin strip of pasta, used especially in Chinese and Indian   
                cooking.
pancake-   a thin flat round cake made from a mixture of flour, eggs and milk that is fried both sides and 
                 eaten hot. 
pasta-      an Italian food made made from flour, water and sometimes eggs, formed into different shapes and 
               served with different sauce.
pastry-   a mixture of flour, fat and water or milk that is rolled out flat and 
               baked as a covering for pies. pickle a vegetable that has been preserved in vinegar and salt water. 
 pie-       meat/ vegetables baked in a dish with pastry on the bottom, sides and top. 
 pizza-   an Italian dish consisting of a flat round bread base with cheese, tomatoes, vegetables, and meat on 
             top
porridge-   a type of soft thick white food made by boiling oats in milk/ water which is eaten hot especially                  
                 for breakfast.   
omelette-   a hot dish of eggs mixed together and fried, often with cheese,meat and vegetables added. 
salad-    a mixture of raw vegetables such as lettuce, tomato and cucumber and served with other food as 
             part of a meal. 
sandwich-   two slices of bread which are spread with butter and with a layer of meat and/ or cheese                 
                  between them. 
sauce-     a thick liquid that is eaten with food to add flaour to it.   
sausage-   a mixture of finely chopped meat in a long tube of skin. 
soup-   a liquid food made by boiling meat and vegetables and water. 
tart-     an open pie filled with sweet food such as fruit. thosai a southern Indian pancake made with rice 
           flour. 
tofu-    a soft white substance that is made from soya and used in cooking.
